Boulangerie & cafe gout, known locally as ブーランジュリーグウ, is a French-style bakery with a cafe side in Chuo Ward, Osaka. Bread leads and the cafe use follows it, so the shop works as an everyday neighbourhood bakery rather than a destination dining room.

A counter for choosing, then a quick sit

The format is self-service: take a tray at the pastry display, choose from what is out, pay at the counter, and either carry it away or take one of the few seats in the small eat-in area. The room is bright in the daytime and casual throughout, and most of the trade is local and repeat.

One shop in a small Osaka group

Gout is not a single shop. The group also runs branches at Tanimachi 6-chome and Tanimachi 4-chome, the first of which reopened after a renewal in 2021. A baker who spent years in the gout kitchens went on to open a related bakery, maison du gout LIVE BAKERY, in 2022, which says something about how the group has grown: through people trained inside it rather than through rapid expansion.
