Why go

Hand-dripped, roasted in the room

Coffee here is hand-dripped from beans roasted in small batches on site, and drip and pour-over are the styles that matter; espresso is not the point. The retail line shows how far the roasting goes: Akaito Blend, Setouchi Blend, the dark Snow Moon Flower, Moak Blend Koi-aji, straight coffees, decaf, medium, medium-dark and dark roasts, drip bags and cold-brew bags. Tea is on the list too, though the house does not name its origins or its suppliers. The focus stays on roast selection, blend character and the pour itself.

Red brick and island memory

The building is a signature in itself: warm red brick outside, nostalgic inside, with vintage signage, wooden furniture and soft lighting. The bricks were made on Naoshima, which gives the room a physical link to the island rather than a decorative café look, and the window seats face quiet island views.

The name comes from akai ito, the red thread, and the story behind it is family: a small house built by the owner's grandfather with his grandmother's help, once connected to an old movie theatre. Coincidence, relationship and the local stories that tie people to a place are the frame the café puts around itself.

Order the Akaito Blend with a scone

Akaito Blend is the clearest entry into the house style, while Setouchi Blend connects the cup to the inland sea outside. Snow Moon Flower is the darker option and café au lait is the named milk drink. For the simplest expression, take the hand-dripped coffee, since the reputation rests on in-house roasting, drip preparation and a smooth, full-bodied house profile.

The food is modest and built to sit beside the coffee. Homemade sweets are the strength, scones and gateau chocolat above all, made as pairings for the hand-roasted cups rather than as a separate pastry programme. The room is also a bookshop, with new and used books, magazines, zines, souvenirs, denim and canvas goods, music, coffee equipment, beans and drip bags on the shelves, so a visit usually runs longer than one cup.
