Why go

A roastery counter in the Eixample

The coffee on this bar is roasted by the house, which is the organising fact about Three Marks: it is a roastery with a café attached rather than a café that buys beans in. The catalogue runs through Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Brazil and El Salvador, with named lots including Diego Vergara Pink Bourbon, Néstor Lasso Bourbon Ají and Jhonatan Gasca Wush Wush from Colombia, El Alisal from Ecuador, Manuel Elera Geisha from Peru, Santa Clara from Brazil and José Díaz from El Salvador. Coffees are chosen seasonally from the cupping table and roasted to keep each lot's own character rather than to hit a single house profile, so what is on the bar in spring is unlikely to be there in autumn. The café was recognised in the 2025 European Coffee Trip awards.

Three friends, one company

Three Marks was founded in 2018 by three friends, Marco De Rebotti, Marco Paccagnella and Marc Aguyé, whose names gave the business its own. The work is split between them: one runs the shop, one leads the brand, one is responsible for the coffee. What began as a single counter has grown into a wider operation with a roastery and an academy in Barcelona, online retail and subscriptions, wholesale supply and barista courses. The room itself stays small and friendly, closer to homely than exclusive, and the service is deliberately even-handed rather than pitched at people who already know the vocabulary. That matters in a city where specialty coffee can be forbidding; here the intention is that a first-time drinker and a competition barista get the same greeting.

What to order, and what to take home

Order whatever seasonal lot is on the bar, as espresso or as filter, since the roastery's own coffee is the entire point of the visit. Food is a supporting act: a small selection of fresh pastries and sandwiches to go beside a hot or cold coffee, not a menu to plan a meal around. The retail side deserves as much attention as the counter. Beans are sold with grind options matched to the way people actually brew at home, for espresso, moka pot, pour-over and Moccamaster, so it is easy to leave with the same coffee you have just drunk, ground for your own machine.

Frequently asked questions

What coffee does Three Marks roast?

The house roasts seasonally chosen lots from Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Brazil and El Salvador, including Diego Vergara Pink Bourbon, Néstor Lasso Bourbon Ají and Jhonatan Gasca Wush Wush from Colombia, El Alisal from Ecuador and Manuel Elera Geisha from Peru. Each is roasted to keep its own character rather than a house profile.

Can you buy beans to take home?

Yes. The retail side is as developed as the café, with beans sold whole or ground for espresso, moka pot, pour-over and Moccamaster, plus subscriptions and wholesale supply. The company also runs a roastery and an academy in Barcelona, so barista courses sit alongside the bags.
