Why go

The bar is inside the roastery. Quo roasts in a public-facing space on the Skärhamn marina and pours the results at a counter in the same room, so the coffee never leaves the building between the roaster and the cup.

A seaside roastery you can drink in

Quo is compact and specific: a Swedish specialty roastery in the heart of Skärhamn, reached straight from the marina, with a coffee bar sharing the roasting floor. The experience is closer to tasting, buying and learning than to working through a cafe menu. A seasonal selection rotates on the shelf, and the retail side runs to beans, brewers and objects for anyone setting up at home, with a learn section that extends the same idea past the counter. The founders set the direction plainly, around transparency, sustainability and a willingness to challenge the specialty status quo, and the sourcing follows: direct trade, entirely specialty grade, and a first Nordic partnership in a sail-freight initiative that ships green coffee by sailboat rather than container.

The coffees on the shelf

The names show the range. Recent lots have included Serra do Caracol from Brazil as a yellow catucai espresso, a gesha from Finca la Fuente in Colombia, Karumandi AA and Kaguyu from Kenya, Wete Konga from Ethiopia and a Tariku Kare decaf. Processing runs across washed Kenyans, a natural Brazil, a washed Colombian gesha and a natural Ethiopian decaf, so the shelf covers most of the ways a specialty roaster can present a coffee. The tasting notes point the same way: peach cobbler, custard, rhubarb crumble, butterscotch, fresh fig, fresh mango, creamy dark chocolate and blackberry compote, a mix of fruit-led, chocolate-led and dessert-like profiles that turns over with the season.

How to approach a visit

Come to it as a roasting-space coffee bar rather than a full cafe stop. Order from the seasonal selection and let the bar pick the format, because the lots that go into the bags are exactly what gets brewed. The roastery opened in late 2024 and still behaves like a young operation: transparent about sourcing, quick to change what is on offer, and more interested in explaining a coffee than in building a food menu. Expect traceable lots, direct-trade language, a small brewer-and-objects retail corner, and a counter that sits inside a working roastery by the sea.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of coffee does Quo Coffee Roasters serve?

Direct-trade, entirely specialty-grade lots roasted on site, poured at a bar inside the roasting space. Recent coffees have included Serra do Caracol from Brazil, a gesha from Finca la Fuente in Colombia, Karumandi AA from Kenya and a Tariku Kare decaf from Ethiopia, with notes running from rhubarb crumble to dark chocolate.

What makes the sourcing at Quo different?

The roastery was the first Nordic partner in a sail-freight initiative, so some of its green coffee arrives by sailboat rather than container. That sits alongside direct trade and full specialty grading, which makes sourcing an argument the bar can explain rather than a line on a bag.
