Why go

Tim Wendelboe beans, and only three things on the menu

The coffee comes from Tim Wendelboe in Oslo, roasted to order each week and bought from small farms with full traceability, which is a serious supply line for a room that also sells pizza. Fiftyfive frames it as roasted in Oslo, served in Kristiansand. The drinks list is complete rather than clever: espresso, Americano, cortado, cappuccino, latte, flat white, iced Americano and iced latte, with Aeropress and V60 for anyone who wants the coffee without milk. Fresh brewed black tea, hot chocolate and a coffee berry fizz cover the rest. European Coffee Trip gave the café a place in its 2025 awards.

Pizza, coffee, tiramisu, and nothing else

The kitchen serves three things and says so. Pizza comes from a dough given 48 to 72 hours of slow fermentation, and the list runs from Marinara and Margherita through Pepperoni, Spicy Pepperoni, 4 Cheeses, Chicken Slice, Pomodoro and two Beef Slices versions to a Blueberry. The tiramisu follows the original recipe from Le Beccherie, the dessert's birthplace, with mascarpone, ladyfingers, espresso and cocoa and nothing added to modernise it. That tight brief is deliberate rather than a limitation. Its founders run a small design studio under the same name alongside the counter, and the same instinct for editing shows in the room, in the menu and in the way the café is presented.

Order a cortado, then the tiramisu

A first visit can start with espresso or a cortado, which show the Wendelboe roast in its least diluted form, or a cappuccino, latte or flat white if milk texture is the interest. Americano covers a longer black cup and the iced versions cover summer. Aeropress and V60 are the filter route when clarity matters more than milk. After the coffee, the tiramisu is the order that says the most about the place, because it is the one thing here nobody is trying to reinterpret. Pizza is the reason to stay for a meal rather than a stop, and the Blueberry and the Beef Slices Bianca are the two that show the kitchen is not being reverent about that format either.

Beans come from Tim Wendelboe in Oslo, roasted to order each week and sourced from small farms with full traceability. What is the tiramisu at Fiftyfive?

It follows the original recipe from Le Beccherie, the birthplace of the dessert, and keeps to mascarpone, ladyfingers, espresso and cocoa without modernising anything.
