Prevail roasts its own coffee and serves it in the old Kress building, a piece of downtown Montgomery retail architecture with the ceiling height and the detailing to match. The room does a good deal of the work, and the coffee does the rest. The list is short enough that the roasting is the point rather than the range.

Drip, cold brew and tea

Unlimited Drip is the house signature and the most direct way to taste what the roastery is doing. Cold Brew is the other core order, and the one to take when an Alabama afternoon rules out anything hot. Teas fill the third lane for anyone not drinking coffee. A roaster that also runs the café controls both ends, which is why the menu can stay this narrow: there is no need to buy variety in when you are making the coffee yourself, and a short list of your own roast is a stronger argument than a long list of somebody else’s.

Order the Cold Brew first if you want the signature, then a drip to read the same coffee hot. The operation is a roaster and a café at once, so what ends up in the cup is the company’s own work from start to finish.
