Nomad Coffee Bar is the daytime half of the Nomad World Pub world, which explains the two things it does at once: espresso and nitro cold brew on one side, boozy coffee drinks and a football crowd on the other. The house line is coffee with a kick, and the welcome runs to diehards and bandwagoners alike.

Coffee is genuinely central. There are cold brew taps and a nitro dispenser on the bar, lattes for an ordinary morning, and a London Fog for anyone who would rather have tea. The boozy side sits alongside them rather than replacing them, which keeps the room usable at eight in the morning and at kick-off. Cold brew comes off a tap rather than out of a jug, which is the clearest sign that the coffee side is not decorative.

A patio, a few high tops and a screen

Inside is straightforward: a few high tops and tall metal chairs rather than sofas and soft lighting. Outside there is a covered patio, colourful exterior details and a statue that regulars use as a landmark. The energy comes from the crowd, not the furniture.

That makes it a Milwaukee room for watching a match with breakfast in front of you, or for a quick coffee on the way past. Either use fits, and the place switches between them without ceremony. The kitchen runs a breakfast menu every day and the house makes a straight claim to the best breakfast and brunch in Milwaukee, which is the sort of thing a room with high tops and a patio can say without embarrassment.

Start with the M40 Commuter, then the nitro

Food is the strongest reason to sit down. The M40 Commuter is the most detailed thing on the menu: egg, sausage, ham and cheese on a toasted English muffin with homemade cheese sauce. Waffles come with strawberries, whipped cream and powdered sugar at the sweet end, and the savoury handhelds run to a pulled pork sammie, a sausage roll, breakfast pizza, breakfast potatoes, the psg street sammy and a veggie burrito big enough to lose control of.

For drinks, the nitro cold brew is the clearest coffee-forward order, poured from the tap with the texture that implies. The London Fog is the tea-based counterpoint, and the boozy coffee drinks are the reason the room fills up before a match rather than after it.
