Coffee under a 1910 ceiling

Meron GALLERY occupies the ground floor of the Blau Ullmann Palace in the middle of Cluj-Napoca, a listed monument built in 1910 and later returned to the community to support art and artists. The building does a great deal of the work: high ceilings, deep floor area and tall glass windows give the room the scale and daylight to serve coffee and hang art at the same time without either feeling squeezed. Inside, the fit-out is industrial, with spacious seating and varied table setups rather than a single café layout.

A gallery that also pours

The art side is not decoration. Meron GALLERY opened in September 2023 as a space for discovering and collecting contemporary work by emerging and established artists, and it keeps an active exhibition record: vernissages, live drawing sessions, curated collaborations and programming running through 2025 and 2026. Meron’s own Artist Guide frames the project as a bridge between art and the public rather than as a private collection with a coffee machine in the corner. The coffee comes from the Meron brand, so the specialty side is not improvised either, and the Explore box is the way to sample rarer lots, which is the coffee equivalent of what the walls are doing. European Coffee Trip recognised the venue in its 2025 awards.

Order the pistachio cookie

The pistachio cookie is the named food item to order, and the food is deliberately kept to that scale. Nothing here is trying to be a bakery or a restaurant; the kitchen exists to support a long sit with a coffee in front of a rotating exhibition. Staff are consistently described as friendly, which counts for more in a room where people are expected to linger. That is the way to use the place. Come for a filter or an espresso, take the cookie, and let the length of the visit be decided by what is on the walls rather than by the queue behind you.
