Why go
Colombian beans, roasted by the company that sells them
Everything poured here is Colombian and roasted in house. Libertario works as a Colombian specialty roaster first, and Calle 70A is one of its own shops, so the espresso, the filter and the bags on the shelf all come out of the same programme. The range is deliberately wide rather than fixed to a single profile: cafés especiales, blends, single origins and single-serve kits, with origin, process and roast profile treated as the things worth asking about at the counter. The house line, Born in Colombia, Crafted for the World, is the short version of the idea, and the company puts 3% of sales into a fund for sustainable coffee-growing, which ties the shelf back to the farms the beans come from.
A Zona G room with a terrace
Calle 70A sits on a quieter side street in Chapinero, on the Zona G side of Bogotá's dining map, and it reopened there in December 2018. The room is warm, modern and design-led, built to be sat in rather than passed through: indoor tables, an outdoor terrace and shelves of retail coffee behind the counter. Food runs to breakfast and brunch, pastry, sandwiches and cakes, which makes it a morning room as much as a coffee break, and the pace is closer to a long sit than a queue. In a district known for its restaurants, it is the address people use before or after a meal rather than instead of one.
Ask what is open, then take a bag
Order by asking what is open rather than by name, since the origins rotate and the counter is used to talking through them. Filter is the clearest way to read a single origin, espresso the fastest, and taking both is the honest way to judge a roaster in its own room. Add breakfast or a pastry if the visit is early, a sandwich or a cake later on. Then look at the shelf on the way out, where the blends, single origins and single-serve kits are the same coffee you have just been drinking. That is the argument for choosing a roaster's own shop over a café that buys its beans in: the cup and the bag are the same decision.

Frequently asked questions
What coffee does Libertario serve on Calle 70A?
Colombian coffee the company roasts itself, sold as cafés especiales, blends, single origins and single-serve kits. The line-up rotates through origins and roast profiles rather than settling on one house taste, so the useful question at the counter is what is open today and whether it is showing better as espresso or as filter.
Is there food at Libertario Calle 70A?
Yes. Breakfast and brunch plates run beside pastry, sandwiches and cakes, so the room works for a morning sitting as well as a quick cup. There are indoor tables and an outdoor terrace, and retail bags of the same coffee are shelved by the counter for taking home.
