Coffee on tap is the reason to stop

The clearest thing on the Jandii Cafe drinks list is brew on tap: coffee pulled from a keg line rather than made cup by cup, which gives it a rounder, colder, slightly sweeter profile than a standard batch brew and puts it in your hand faster. It is the one part of the programme that separates Jandii from the espresso bars around it, and it is where a first visit should start. The house does not put a roaster name on the wall or make claims about origin, so the tap system itself is what is being sold, and on that basis it holds up. Order it before anything else and judge the place on how it drinks, because everything else on the board is the same set of espresso drinks available on any corner in the city.

A Sweet Maple project, built as a café this time

Jandii is the first café-only venture from the group behind Sweet Maple, the long-running Sunset breakfast restaurant, and it soft-opened in June 2025. That lineage matters more here than it might elsewhere. The group has spent decades working the same part of San Francisco and understands the morning trade, but it has always sold that trade with a full kitchen attached. Here the kitchen recedes and the counter takes over, which is a genuinely different discipline. Hiring for the opening included bakers and back-of-house staff, so there is production behind the pastry case rather than a delivery arriving from elsewhere, even if no individual bake has a name attached to it yet.

A small, modern daytime room

The room is compact, bright and modern, with Korean café design cues in the finishes, and it is set up for a daytime stay rather than an evening one: counter ordering, enough seating to work from, no bar and no dinner service. The Sunset location puts it on a neighbourhood street rather than a destination one, and the crowd reflects that, which is a large part of the appeal. It is a place to sit with a laptop for an hour or meet someone for half of one. Order the brew on tap, take whatever came out of the back that morning, and treat the pastry case as support rather than the reason you came. It is a daytime proposition through and through, and it reads best used that way rather than stretched into something it was never built to be.
