Why go

Scandinavian toasts, Lisbon produce, and coffee beside brunch

Open rye toasts in the Scandinavian manner set the tone at this small Lisbon room, with specialty coffee beside them and thirty square metres shaped for breakfast rather than for lingering dinner. The idea came from a former food journalist who moved to Lisbon in 2021 after travelling through Scandinavia and brought the smørrebrød habit with her. The kitchen keeps the Nordic form, then bends it toward local produce and Lisbon appetites: rye bread, gravlax, sardines, mussels, broccoli hummus, citrus mayo, pickled red onion and a green butter with herbs and garlic all sit comfortably in the same grammar. Coffee is part of that programme rather than a separate roastery performance, running from espresso, macchiato, cappuccino, flat white, americano and espresso tonic to batch brew, cold brew, matcha latte, tea, kombucha, hot chocolate and a lavender lemonade. The house does not name its roaster, so the clearer reason to come is the way the drinks support the food.

Four or five tables, a terrace, and the Bica pace

The room is small enough that the counter sets the rhythm. Thirty square metres, a simple Scandinavian line inside, neutral tones, hanging lamps, little theatrical fuss. There are only a handful of tables, so the terrace matters when the weather is kind, and the service feels closer to a neighbourhood breakfast room than to a large brunch machine. This is counter service with a daytime pulse: eggs, granola, toasts, coffee, orange juice, then another round of plates leaving the kitchen. The brunch set explains the hour well, gathering rye bread, green butter, salad, the pastry of the day, homemade granola with Greek yogurt and berry jam, orange juice, eggs, a protein or spread, and coffee or tea.

Order the salmon toast, then the cake of the day

The open toast with cured salmon puts the whole idea on one plate: cream cheese, green salad, zucchini and parsley pesto over rye, familiar in shape but loosened by Lisbon produce. For a fuller breakfast, the zucchini latkes with sour cream, gravlax and green salad keep the same northern line without repeating the bread. If the case is calling, take the cake of the day rather than trying to predict it, since that part of the counter changes often enough to stay interesting. Coffee is the easy companion, but the espresso tonic and the lavender lemonade are the drinks that read as most at home beside the toasts.
