The vintage Citroën HY van sits inside the room, not out on the forecourt, and it is the first thing you see. Craftsman Coffee started in 2017 as a mobile coffee truck and worked out of that van before the Pacifica shop existed, so keeping it indoors is less decoration than autobiography. Roll-up doors mean it can still drive out for catering when it is needed. The husband and wife who founded the business had wanted a permanent room for years, and the storefront is what turned a to-go operation into a place you can sit down in.

Small-batch roasting and a rotating pastry case

The coffee is roasted in Pacifica in small batches, and the retail and subscription range names it plainly: Reserve Blend, Stay Golden, Crushing It, Portola Stroll, a Monthly Roaster’s Pick and a bulk bag. That puts the café in a local roasting model rather than a service-only one, and the business was known for its coffee drinks and whole roasted beans well before it had an address. The coffee is sourced with some care and roasted in town rather than contracted out, which is the difference between a café that sells beans and one that makes them.

Food is pastry, and the case rotates: daily bakes brought in from local bakeries rather than a kitchen of its own, with Rosalind Bakery among the names that turn up on set days. It means the sweet side changes through the week and is worth looking at before ordering rather than after.

Use it when the plan is coffee, a pastry and time in a room built for conversation. The interior is open, with benches, stools and a heated bench, and the stated intention was a social space where people could bring friends, meet neighbours and talk to someone they did not already know. It reads that way in practice. For a practical visit, order from the current drinks list, look for retail bags such as Stay Golden or Portola Stroll if beans are the goal, and see which bakery is in the case that day. Compared with the truck it grew out of, the storefront is built for staying: the roasting, the beans and the neighbourhood conversation all end up in the same room.
