Why go
Honest bread and the ham-and-cheese cachito
At Caracas Bakery, the counter runs on two traditions at once: French lamination and Venezuelan pastry. Symmetrical danishes and puffy croissants sit beside cachitos, the filled Venezuelan roll that carries most of the bakery’s reputation here. The ham-and-cheese version is the one to order first, golden brown, soft, warm and generously stuffed. The house calls what it bakes honest bread and beautifully made viennoiserie, and it treats the two traditions as equals rather than making the Venezuelan side a token nod beside the croissants.
The business began in 2014 as a private sourdough obsession shared with friends and family, opened its first bakery in Doral in 2019, took a fuller café format here in MiMo, and later added Coral Gables. The MiMo room is where the idea widens past a pastry counter into breakfast, brunch and lunch built around bread.
A neighborhood café that happens to bake
The MiMo District branch works as bakery and sit-down café at the same time. The dining room is minimal and centered on the counter, with room for a coffee and a pastry or a full plate; one odd, likeable detail is an elementary school desk parked near the counter, which sets the tone better than any formal dining-room language could. Weekdays are the quiet version: a table to yourself, coffee, something laminated, work. Weekends tighten up, helped along by spillover from the farmers’ market nearby, and the room turns into a brunch stop. It appears in the Infatuation’s 2026 Miami bakery guide.
For all the technique, the useful thing about the place is its ordinariness. It is a bakery you can use on a Tuesday, which is rarer than a bakery you make a trip for.
Then work through the bread menu
After the cachito, the sandwiches show what the bread program is for. The broccoli sandwich is crunchy and cheesy. The BLT leans on thick, salty bacon, with everything around it treated seriously rather than as filler. The BEC stacks fluffy scrambled eggs, bacon and cheddar on a sweet potato bun, which is the point where the baking stops being a pastry-case exercise and becomes the structure of a meal. Pair one savory order with a croissant or danish from the counter and the whole pattern is legible: sourdough roots, French laminated pastry, Venezuelan cachitos, and a menu where the bread does the work.

Frequently asked questions
What should you order at Caracas Bakery MiMo?
Start with the ham-and-cheese cachito, the Venezuelan filled roll the bakery is best known for: golden brown, soft and generously stuffed. Then move to the bread-led sandwiches, the BLT with its thick salty bacon or the BEC on a sweet potato bun, and finish with a croissant or danish from the counter.
Can you work at Caracas Bakery MiMo?
Weekdays suit it. The room is minimal and built around the counter, and the quiet half of the week gives you a table, a coffee and something laminated for as long as you need it. Weekends are a different proposition, busier with brunch traffic and spillover from the farmers’ market nearby.
