Espresso on the rocks, and a flat white built for competition

The signature list is short and specific: Espresso on the rocks, the Competition Flat White, KoKo matcha and Salted Vanilla Matcha. Those four orders describe Benchmark Coffee better than any category does, and they come from a specialty cafe and small roastery working under one name.

The bar also runs a coffee omakase for anyone who would rather be led through the beans than order from the list. It is the clearest sign of how the place sees itself: coffee meant to be tasted attentively rather than simply drunk.

A refined room in Aljada

The room is modern, quiet and deliberately calm, premium in finish without being formal. It works equally for a solo hour of work, a slow cup or meeting someone, and the layout keeps the noise down. In the Aljada district of Sharjah, that combination is as much of the draw as the coffee.

Nothing about the setting is showy. The palette is minimal, the seating is comfortable enough to hold you for an hour, and the counter does the talking.

Benchmark Coffee was ranked number 18 in The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops for 2026, the strongest outside signal on any list of Sharjah coffee stops.

Order cold, then add something sweet

Start with Espresso on the rocks if you want the coffee direct and cold. For milk, the Competition Flat White is the order the house puts its name to: the one to try first if straight espresso is not the plan, and the drink that gives the clearest sense of the standard being reached for.

Matcha drinkers have two routes: KoKo matcha, or Salted Vanilla Matcha for something sweeter. Both are treated as signatures rather than as a concession to people who are not drinking coffee.

On the dessert side the named items are the Espresso cheesecake, the Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies and the Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake. The cheesecake is the natural pairing with the coffee and the cookies are the thing to take away with you afterwards. Between four drinks and three desserts, a first visit more or less plans itself. The roastery side is what sits behind all of it, and the omakase is the format built to show that off.
