Zero Gravity Specialty Coffee

Why go

House-roasted beans, a grinder set to whatever you brew on at home, and a shelf of kettles and filters within arm's reach of the bar: this counter works as espresso bar, roastery and equipment shop at once. Espresso, cappuccino, filter coffee, cold brew and a matcha latte come across the same bar that sells the beans, which is Zero Gravity's whole idea rather than a sideline.

Roasting, grinding and the shelf behind the bar

The shop opened in 2020 under the Coffee & Cocoa name and is still owner-run with a small team, roasting for its own shelves and grinding to each customer's brewing method rather than to a house default. The retail side keeps Comandante, Origami, Hario, Fellow, Brewista, IMS and Rhino kit close enough to browse while a drink is being made. There are no guest roasters on the bar: the roast, the grind and the daily pull all sit under one roof, which leaves the counter accountable for the cup in a way a multi-roaster bar never quite is.

Pastry and chocolate from named makers

The case is small and chosen to sit beside coffee rather than replace lunch. Croissants come from Walter, the Klagenfurt bakery, and organic cardamom-cinnamon knots from hefehaus in Feldkirchen. The confectionery goes further, with pralines and macarons from AC glutenfree bakery, pralines and chocolates from Berger Feinste Confiserie, crunchy spreads from Brandgut, handmade chocolate from 58chocolate and Danish liquorice from Lakrids by Bulow. None of it tries to turn the counter into a breakfast room. Every item is there to be eaten in a few bites beside a cup, which keeps the coffee in front.

What to order, and when to bring a laptop

Order filter coffee first if the visit is about the roasting. It shows the roast without milk and matches the home-brewing character of the place, while espresso is the short version and cappuccino the milk one. The matcha latte has its own following, but the house is a coffee shop and roastery before anything else. Beside the cup, take the cardamom-cinnamon knot when it is in the case, or a praline if you are buying beans anyway. One rule is worth knowing: Fridays and Saturdays are not laptop days, which says plainly what the room is for at the weekend, namely coffee, conversation and a look along the shelves. Plants and plain furnishings keep it warm without turning it into a lounge, and the shop was recognised in the 2025 European Coffee Trip awards.

Frequently asked questions

What should I order at Zero Gravity?

Filter coffee, if the point of the visit is the roasting: it shows the house roast without milk and matches the home-brewing side of the shop. Espresso is the short version and cappuccino the milk one, while the matcha latte has a following of its own. Beside the cup, take the cardamom-cinnamon knot.

Can I work there on a laptop?

Not on Fridays or Saturdays, which are not laptop days. The rest of the week the room is small, plainly furnished and quiet enough to sit with a cup, but it is built around the bar and the retail shelves rather than around long desk sessions, so treat it as a coffee stop rather than an office.
