Undergrind is known locally as the only flavored latte café in Beverlywood, and the drinks list has a clearer centre than a conventional specialty menu built on single origins and tasting notes. The emphasis is approachable, dessert-adjacent espresso drinks in flavors you can picture before you order.

Salted caramel, vanilla bean, peanut butter cup and the Tiger Island, which layers chocolate, coconut, chai and espresso, define the lane: sweet, spiced, creamy, not austere. Classic espresso drinks are there, but the creative list is where to start. Tea belongs to the same identity rather than a separate menu, and the chai inside the Tiger Island is the proof.

A counter built for the daily pass

Undergrind is a counter-service neighborhood stop in Beverlywood, on the west side of Los Angeles, with a compact footprint, opened in 2018 and funded into existence by its own customers. The Kickstarter supporters are listed on a wall inside, which makes the room something other than a transaction space and explains why it works as a Beverlywood social anchor for families, regulars and quick daily visits.
