Why go

A roastery counter with a full retail wall

Quahwa works as roastery, café and shop at once, and the range on the wall is the point of a visit: single origins, house blends, signature blends, limited editions, decaf, ESE pods, gift packs and specialty teas. Whatever you drink at the counter can leave with you as beans or leaf. The single origins are named by farm and region: Brazil Yellow Bourbon, Ethiopia Sidama from Yaye, Jamaica Blue Mountain, Brazil Cerrado White Diamond, Golden Huila from Colombia, Monte Cristo from Brazil's Cerrado, Dota from the Tarrazú region of Costa Rica and Matunda AA from Nyeri County in Kenya, which puts South America, Central America, the Caribbean and East Africa on one shelf.

Blends, Turkish coffee and a terrace

Blends carry as much weight as origins here. The house line runs Simply Espresso, Simply Turkish, Brown Diamond, Red Diamond, Black Diamond, Green Diamond, Purple Diamond and the limited Brazil Yellow Diamond, and the two Simply blends tell you what the café pours most: espresso-based drinks and traditional Turkish coffee. Quahwa's own language leans on arabica, strong lattes and Turkish preparation, so milk coffee and Turkish coffee are the service backbone rather than side options. Tea has a list of its own, with Blue Earl Grey, Strawberry Dream, Tropical Paradise, Jasmine Green Tea, Fruity, Zen Retreat and Pretty Mint, plus a gift pack. A terrace gives the café a sit-down side, so it is not only a retail counter with a machine behind it.

Start with Turkish coffee or a latte

Turkish coffee is the most distinctive opening order, cued by the Simply Turkish blend and treated as a normal way to drink coffee rather than a novelty. If you usually take espresso with milk, a latte is the other clear starting point, particularly given how hard the arabica and milk side is pushed. After the first cup, move to the retail names. Brazil Yellow Bourbon, Ethiopia Sidama Yaye, Jamaica Blue Mountain, Golden Huila, Costa Rica Dota and Kenya Matunda AA are the origin-led paths; Brown Diamond, Red Diamond, Black Diamond, Green Diamond, Purple Diamond, Simply Espresso and Brazil Yellow Diamond are the blend path. For a non-coffee finish, Blue Earl Grey, Jasmine Green Tea, Zen Retreat, Pretty Mint or Tropical Paradise stay inside the house tea range.

Frequently asked questions

What should you order at Quahwa?

Turkish coffee is the most distinctive choice, cued by the house Simply Turkish blend, and a latte is the obvious alternative given the emphasis on arabica and milk drinks. After that, the single origins are the interesting route, from Brazil Yellow Bourbon through to Kenya Matunda AA.

Can you buy coffee to take home?

Yes, and the retail side is as developed as the café. The range covers single origins, house and signature blends, limited editions, decaf, ESE pods, equipment and gift packs, plus a specialty tea list that includes Blue Earl Grey, Jasmine Green Tea and Zen Retreat.
