Coffee and cake, then a bag to take home

Roasting for yourself changes what a bar can offer: the coffee is fresher, the staff know its history, and the same beans go home with people in the same visit. The roastery also runs courses and supplies coffee for events, so the bar is one arm of a broader operation rather than the whole business.

An outdoor stop by the Svratka

The setting does a lot of the work here. Tables outside, the river a few metres away, and a contemporary specialty look that stays casual instead of turning solemn. It suits the way people use it, which is as a stop on a walk or a ride along the water rather than as a destination in its own right.

Order at the counter and take it outside if there is space. Coffee first, cake second, and a bag of whatever is roasting well that week on the way out. Jundrov sits a way out from the centre of Brno, so the visit works best folded into a route along the water rather than made as a special trip. Go on a clear afternoon and the terrace does the rest of the work, which is more than most city-centre counters can claim.
