Matcha first, El Salvadoran coffee second

The order that defines Paisita is matcha. The shop calls itself a specialty coffee café and matcha bar, and it is the matcha that has given it a name on Abbot Kinney, a stretch of Venice with no shortage of competition for that title.

Coffee is the second pillar rather than a fallback. The beans come from El Salvador, which gives the espresso side an identity of its own on a street full of house blends. Treat those two as the spine of the menu and everything else as support. Paisita was included in Eater’s 2025 coffee guide.

A counter, a patio and a daytime rhythm

Service is at the counter and the patio is the reason to stay. Paisita works the way the rest of Abbot Kinney does, as a quick, quality-led stop for a drink and something to eat while moving through Venice, but the outdoor seating turns it into somewhere to sit for half an hour rather than two minutes.

It is a daytime place. Mornings and middays are what it is built for, which separates it from the dinner-driven rooms nearby, and the feel is closer to a neighbourhood café than to a destination with a queue outside.

Order matcha, then something Latin

Start with a matcha, since that is the clearest signal of what the café does well. Then build the rest of the order around the Latin food, which is where Paisita separates itself from a standard Venice coffee bar.

Empanadas are the portable option and the easiest thing to eat on the patio. Breakfast burritos are the fuller order and put the café firmly in the morning routine. Together with the El Salvadoran coffee they give the menu a Latin American centre that the rest of the street does not have. Keep the visit casual: a drink at the counter, something in hand, and the patio if the seat is free.
