Espresso weighed to the gram
Espresso comes off a La Marzocco Linea Classic-S, ground on a Mahlkönig E65W GBS for gram-precise doses, with an E65 GBW and an EK43S also on the bar. The list covers Bar Espresso, Americano, Cappuccino, Flat White and Latte, plus Chai Latte and Dirty Chai Latte. Filter service runs Batch Brew and V60, with Cold Brew as the prepared chilled option, and any coffee can be served iced.
Beans rotate rather than sit on a fixed board. Coffees come from partner roasters, with a house coffee that never leaves the bar and a monthly rotating special called Funky for anyone chasing something less familiar. Retail bags are sold in 250g, and the selection moves as it sells through, so the cup changes from one visit to the next.
More than 100 records and a treated room
The room is deliberately analog. More than 100 records span hip-hop, rock, jazz, soul, punk, reggae, post-punk, shoegaze, ska and indie, guests can bring a record of their own to be played, and shop records are for sale.
Sound is part of the order: a Yamaha A-S301 amplifier, Klipsch RP-600M speakers and a Technics SL-1200MK7 turntable in an acoustically treated space. This is not a coworking room, though weekday laptop use is fine as long as the atmosphere holds and calls go through headphones. The rhythm is coffee, conversation, records and controlled volume.
Start with Bar Espresso, then pick a lane
Bar Espresso is the opening move, with Americano for a longer black cup and Cappuccino, Flat White or Latte for milk. Chai Latte and Dirty Chai Latte cover the spiced route, and decaf espresso is there for later in the day. Freshly squeezed orange juice sits on the non-coffee side, and oat and soy milk are available.
If espresso is not the mood, Batch Brew is the quick filter, V60 the hand-brew, and Cold Brew the chilled alternative. The real reason to stay, though, is the pairing the bar was built on: a rotating partner-roaster coffee, the Funky special if it is on, and a record chosen off the shelf.
