Nomad coffee runs through the espresso here, in a Las Letras room in central Madrid where a strong blue on the window frames does as much work as the greenery.

Nomad coffee and the warm drinks around it

Specialty coffee is Etual’s clearest identity, and the programme is built on Nomad. Espresso, flat white, hot latte and iced coffee are the regular calls; the espresso is rich and full, and the hot latte is strong, creamy and bold enough to hold a slow breakfast.

Beyond espresso, matcha is a genuinely popular order and hot chocolate covers the simplest comfort route for anyone skipping coffee entirely, with tea rounding out the list. The flat white is the order when the visit is about coffee rather than food; the hot latte is the one for a longer sit, and iced coffee gives the same beans a colder route in summer.

A blue-framed room made to stay in

Etual is not a bare coffee counter. Its founders built the café around coffee, greenery and books, and the interior is a deliberate design project on top of that: a strong blue runs from the window frames and structural elements into selected furniture until it reads as part of the room rather than an accent.

Books, plants and a resident labradoodle called Oliver fill in the rest, and the effect is lived-in and social. The mood is casual, quiet and welcoming, helped by a calmer Huertas street a short walk from the Prado. Dine-in, takeout, delivery and table service all work, and the room suits laptop work and solo eating. Dogs are welcome inside and out, which fits the informal neighbourhood character.

Start with the flat white, then order breakfast

Order the flat white or the espresso first, then build from the breakfast-led food list. Scrambled eggs with avocado is the repeated favourite and the fuller savoury anchor, the plate people come back for.

Pancakes take the same table sweeter, while cacio e pepe gives the all-day format a proper midday option. That spread is why the café works across a morning coffee, a slow breakfast and an afternoon pause without changing register.
