Why go

Everything poured at Laidrey was roasted by Laidrey. The women-owned micro-roastery opened its Tarzana café in 2022, the first permanent home for a brand that has since added rooms in Encino and Agoura Hills, and it is still the flagship.

Single origins, roasted in small batches

The roasting is the reason to come. Laidrey works hands-on from sourcing through to brewing, and it builds the menu around carefully sourced single-origin coffees roasted to show each lot's own character rather than blended into one house profile. Roasting on the premises also means the coffee on the bar is the coffee in the bags, so a cup you like can go home with you the same morning.

The clearest read on that is a single-origin pour over, the order most tied to what the roastery does. For milk drinks, take a house espresso drink or an iced latte, with plant-based milk available. Cold brew is the simplest chilled route. Seasonal coffee and tea creations rotate alongside the core espresso and brewed list, so repeat visits do not have to repeat the order.

Counter service with a neighbourhood role

Laidrey works as a counter-service café rather than a restaurant. Drinks and food are ordered at the bar, and the tone comes straight from the roastery's priorities: daily fresh brewing, small-batch roasting and ethical sourcing, in a room that has become part of the San Fernando Valley specialty coffee scene.

The food side leans on local suppliers and stays flexible. Fresh seasonal pastries arrive daily from local vendors, which keeps the case rotating rather than fixed. The avocado and hummus toasts can be made vegan by leaving out the feta, matching the plant-based milk options at the bar. That range makes the café work for a quick pastry, a proper breakfast, or a lunch-leaning stop.

Order the burrito, then choose the brew

The vegan chipotle breakfast burrito is the clearest savoury signature: plant-based, substantial and built around chipotle heat. Pair it with a house espresso drink for the classic version, an iced latte if you want it cold with milk, or cold brew for the simplest cold coffee.

On the coffee side, the single-origin pour over remains the best starting point for understanding what Laidrey roasts. Seasonal pastries from local vendors are the sweet add-on for a smaller order, and the seasonal tea creations give the menu a route that avoids coffee altogether. Laidrey appears in the 2025 Eater Coffee Guide.

What should I order at Laidrey?

A single-origin pour over is the order most tied to the roasting. For milk drinks take a house espresso drink or an iced latte, both available with plant-based milk, or cold brew for something simpler and cold. To eat, the vegan chipotle breakfast burrito is the signature savoury item.
