Why go

Light roasts from a Danish roaster

The cup is where to start, and it will taste lighter than most coffee poured in Bangkok. La Cabra roasts in the Scandinavian manner, pale and fruit-forward, and the Talad Noi bar is built around that profile: clarity rather than body, origin character rather than a dark house blend. Regular drinkers describe the coffee as fresh, light and easy to drink with a mild fruitiness, which is a fair summary of the style.

This is the roaster's first location outside Denmark and its first in Thailand, opened as the first Scandinavian coffee roaster in the country, with a second Bangkok bar in Ari. Espresso, batch brew and pour-over are the usual routes through the menu, and the light roasting is the constant across all three.

A Talad Noi building, kept mostly intact

The café was made by adapting an older building rather than gutting it. Original details were kept, and the bar was given a minimalist finish with a deliberately raw edge, so the room reads as Scandinavian restraint laid over a Bangkok structure instead of a copy of the Copenhagen shops. The result belongs to its street in a way a new build would not.

The sequence through the space is part of the design. You come in through an entrance full of natural light, pass a simple front seating area, and arrive at the coffee bar with its green La Cabra tiles and subtle Thai touches. Talad Noi is a neighbourhood of workshops and old shophouses, and the café sits inside that texture rather than apart from it.

How to spend the visit

Give the room as much time as the coffee. Order a filter or batch brew if you want the light roasting at its most legible, then an espresso drink if you want to see how the same beans behave under pressure. Ask what is on that day, since the origins move with the roasting calendar.

Food is secondary at this branch. The wider Bangkok operation connects coffee to Scandinavian-style baking through La Cabra Bakery, so pastries are part of the family, but the Talad Noi bar is best approached as a coffee stop with a seat rather than a bakery counter. Come for the coffee, stay for the building, and allow more time than a takeaway cup would need.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of coffee does La Cabra Bangkok serve?

Light-roasted specialty coffee in the Scandinavian manner, pale and fruit-forward, with clarity rather than body as the aim. Espresso, batch brew and pour-over all run on the same roasting style. Order a filter first if you want the profile at its clearest, then compare it with an espresso drink.

What is the Talad Noi café like?

It was made by adapting an older building rather than replacing it, keeping original details and finishing the bar in a minimal style with a raw edge. The space runs from a light-filled entrance through a simple front seating area to the green-tiled coffee bar, with subtle Thai touches throughout.
