Why go

An espresso bar run by its own roastery

The bar pours what the company roasts, and the list is short enough to work through in a few visits. Cafecito describes itself as coffee roasters and espressobar, and the Nassaukade branch is the Amsterdam room where that description gets tested a cup at a time.

The brand language runs to craftsmanship, finesse, mindfulness and an appreciation of the small refined things, aimed at what it calls conscious bon vivants. In practice that means a composed counter rather than a spectacle: freshly roasted beans, artisan preparation by the baristas, and a room arranged so the coffee is the loudest thing in it. Pleasure and sophistication are placed at the centre of the concept, which is a great deal to ask of an espresso, and mostly the counter carries it.

Beans with names, and juice for the rest

The bean range gives the counter its vocabulary. Espresso Peru Toterani carries almond and honey; Blueberry Honey Jam from Huila in Colombia leans to chocolate with fruit and acidity; Espresso Cafecito Blend 001 and Blend 002 hold the house line with chocolate and nuts; and the Colombia Decaf Swiss Water is described with good body, balanced acidity, a sweet rich finish and walnut notes.

Away from coffee the list is deliberately plain: Cafecito sparkling water, apple-ginger juice, apple-cherry juice, apple juice and orange juice. There is no kitchen in the picture, so a visit is a drink and, if you want it, a bag of beans to take with you rather than a meal built around the counter.

A counter that sells what it makes

Retail sits beside service here. Beans and espresso products are on the shelf, which fits a roastery-led operation and makes the shop a supply stop as much as a place to stand at the bar. The roasting is described as a specific process built to draw the best out of each bean, which is the claim the espresso has to answer for.

Cafecito works both Amsterdam and Rotterdam, and Nassaukade belongs to that group rather than standing alone as a separate concept. Treat it as a calm, deliberate espresso bar built on small repeatable rituals: choose a coffee, notice how it is served, and take something home. The room is compact and quiet, so a visit tends to be short and built around the drink and the shelf beside it.

Frequently asked questions

What should I order at Cafecito Nassaukade?

Espresso from the house line is the obvious start: Cafecito Blend 001 and Blend 002 run to chocolate and nuts, while Espresso Peru Toterani brings almond and honey. Blueberry Honey Jam from Huila is the fruit-forward choice, and the Colombia Decaf Swiss Water is a full-bodied alternative without the caffeine.
