The coffee on this Ybor City bar comes from the same company that roasts it. Blind Tiger has been roasting in Tampa Bay since 2014, in small batches and on a weekly cycle, and the retail shelf carries the results: Pirate's Plunder, Blind Tiger House Blend, Florida Man Blend, Brazil Cerrado and an espresso blend, plus limited drops and seasonal releases. The brand's own line, “In coffee we trust,” sits over the whole operation.

At the counter the drinks run from espresso classics to cold brew, nitro, matcha, chai and seasonal flavours. The named orders worth knowing are the Cafe Bombon, the Espresso Affogato and the Dirty Thaiger, a Thai iced coffee. Tea holds its own too, with brewed iced blends including blueberry pomegranate green and Florida citrus green.

A room built for the line and the linger

The Ybor room is spacious and made for both movement and staying put. Big windows open onto a wide seating area, with more tables on the sidewalk out front. Ordering is counter service, the line forming on the left in front of a large posted menu, which keeps a quick espresso or cold brew genuinely quick.

The seating is what changes the visit. People work here for a couple of hours, play chess and treat it as a casual hangout, and the interiors are modern and energetic without being uncomfortable for a long sit. The same room takes scheduled brunch events, where the coffee menu is joined by mimosas, cocktails, beer and wine.

Order the Cafe Bombon, then eat properly

For a first drink, pick one of the named builds rather than a default latte. Cafe Bombon, Espresso Affogato and the Dirty Thaiger each show a different side of the house coffee, and nitro or cold brew is the straightest route to the roast itself.
