A swim-up bar and a lounger you can order from, with Arabic and continental bites arriving between swims. Al Seef is the poolside café at Sharq Village & Spa, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Doha, and it belongs to the pool rather than to the street.

Arabic and continental bites by the water

The food is a selection of Arabic and continental bites, sized for a light meal rather than a course structure. The Arabic side is the more place-specific half of the menu and the better starting point; the continental dishes give mixed groups something familiar to fall back on.

Drinks run alongside all day, and Arabian delicacies are brought out to the loungers, which is the clearest signal of how the place is meant to be used. This is resort service rather than counter service.

The pool is the room

Al Seef sits among the resort's pools, including an infinity pool, and the swim-up bar puts part of the counter in the water. Everything about the format follows from that: casual dress, unhurried timing, and an order placed from a lounger as often as from a seat at the bar.

It is one outlet in a larger dining collection at Sharq Village & Spa, alongside Al Liwan Restaurant, Al Jalsa Cafe and Lobby Lounge, El Cedro Lounge and Parisa Persian Restaurant. Al Seef is the daytime, poolside member of that group, and it works best for guests already in the water.

Order the Arabic bites, keep it light

Approach the menu through what the venue is for: light food, cold drinks and a lounger. Order from the Arabic side first, add a continental plate if the group wants variety, and treat the whole thing as an accompaniment to the pool rather than as a meal in its own right.

Choose it when the setting is the point. For a coffee programme, a pastry case or a chef-led menu, the resort's other outlets are the better call. Al Seef's appeal is water, shade and something to eat without leaving either.
