Why go

Nine and a half square metres of former storeroom, one flat white at a time: shed, also styled Shed 小屋 Specialty Coffee Shop, is a micro-café in central Thessaloniki with a Japanese identity and a design-led format. It came out of a partnership between an experienced coffee-project operator and a coffee instructor at the Thessaloniki Bar Academy, and the room near Acheiropoietos Church is shaped by Japandi thinking: hygge, wabi-sabi, natural materials, a restrained palette. Inside that footprint sits specialty coffee with KUDU, flat whites, cold brew, matcha, butterfly pea drinks, freshly baked sweets, cookies, snickers bars and classic aperitifs.

Coffee, matcha and cold drinks

The coffee programme centres on KUDU, the Athenian roasting brand, offered as blends and single origins, which makes the list broader than one anonymous house espresso.

The flat white is the drink most closely associated with shed and still an uncommon find in Greece. Cold brew gives the coffee a colder route, while the wider list runs to latte recipes built with matcha powder and butterfly pea. The matcha stands out in a city that does not have many, and the butterfly pea drink is the one that surprises people. Between them the menu covers espresso-based coffee, cold coffee and visually distinctive tea-adjacent recipes.

A casual Thessaloniki stop

shed works less like a sit-down café than a micro-café for quick, careful service, mostly counter-led, with short dwell times and a take-away-first rhythm.

Design carries the rest. The architecture answers a need for decluttering and room to breathe, reducing the café to a tiny, focused coffee corner. Japandi combines Japanese and Scandinavian elements, with comfort, simplicity, implicit colour contrast and natural materials, and the name Shed 小屋 reinforces the Japanese thread. It sits in the central urban fabric near Acheiropoietos Church.

Food stays compact: freshly baked sweets, classic aperitifs, snickers bars, cookies, small cookies served alongside drinks, and a homemade chocolate item. A sandwich can be arranged from Paperbag across the street, which is a neighbourly workaround rather than evidence of a kitchen.

Flat white first, then the cold side

Start with the flat white if coffee is the point. It is the clearest named drink and it connects straight to the KUDU-backed selection of blends and single origins. For cold coffee, take the cold brew.

For a second drink, move to the matcha or the butterfly pea. The matcha-latte-style recipes show that shed is not only an espresso counter, and the butterfly pea adds a distinct non-coffee option. Pair either with the sweets: freshly baked items, cookies, snickers bars or the homemade chocolate. The best reading of shed is a tiny, carefully designed downtown coffee corner, strong on specialty drinks, matcha, cold options and small sweets, and not a brunch room.

Frequently asked questions

What should you order at shed?

The flat white, which is the drink most closely associated with the counter and still uncommon in Greece, pulled from KUDU blends and single origins. For something cold, take the cold brew. The matcha and the butterfly pea drink are the two non-coffee orders worth making, with a cookie or a freshly baked sweet alongside.

How small is shed?

It occupies 9.5 square metres, a former storeroom near Acheiropoietos Church turned into a coffee corner. The Japandi design, all natural materials and restrained colour, is a deliberate answer to clutter, and the format is counter-led with short dwell times, so most people order and carry the cup out.
