Why go

Roaster-led coffee in a former bank

The coffee comes from PERC's own roastery, and the bean list is built around producers rather than blends: Ecuador Juan Peña in natural, advanced washed and Tag Team versions, Colombia Franky Hoyos across the same processes, Colombia Andres Cardona purple honey, Kenya Mara Estate and a decaf Rwanda Nyamasheke. Those names show the architecture, origin and producer first, process second.

The Tucker shop opened in January 2024 as PERC's fourth metro Atlanta location, joining East Lake, Virginia-Highland and Grant Park, within a wider network that runs back to Savannah. It occupies a former bank building, and the layout was shaped by that structure as much as by the fit-out, with a retail patio, heaters and fans extending the room outdoors.

A neighbourhood counter, not a formal room

This is counter service in a colourful room, designed for a coffee, a pastry and a short stop rather than table service and a long sitting. The brand's stated position is that world-class coffee should be approachable and fun, and the Tucker branch reads that way: a practical neighbourhood cafe where the roasting credentials sit behind the drinks rather than on top of them.

What the branch inherits from the wider group is the sourcing and roasting programme; what it adds is the everyday role. Morning traffic, a counter queue, a patio in decent weather. It works the same way as the East Lake, Virginia-Highland and Grant Park shops, which makes it easy to read if you already know one of them.

Espresso first, then the crunchwrap

Start with the coffee, since that is the strongest identity marker here. A straight espresso drink or a brewed cup off one of the named lots gives the clearest read on the roast: the Ecuador and Colombia producers are the ones that recur, and the processes, natural, advanced washed, purple honey, are worth asking about at the counter.

The food came in with the opening menu and has stayed practical: pastries from Alon's Bakery, doughnuts from Hero Doughnuts, a breakfast crunchwrap, an egg and cheese bagel sandwich and a granola bowl. The crunchwrap is the most distinctive of them and the one worth ordering if breakfast is the point of the visit. Otherwise a doughnut or a pastry beside the coffee keeps the stop as short as the format intends.
