A coffee counter with a full kitchen behind it

The useful thing about OXBO Café is the format. This is not a roaster bar built on single origins; it is the café side of a wider OXBO kitchen, set up so that a coffee, a snack, a lunch plate or a later meal all come across the same counter. The menu leans Modern European, with produce-led plates sitting beside the sort of food an airport day actually calls for: salads, flatbreads, sandwiches and hot mains. Plant-based and vegetarian dishes run through the list rather than sitting in a corner of it, which matters when half a group is eating between flights and nobody wants a long negotiation about it.

Built for the long travel hour

The room follows the OXBO look used across Hilton sites, modern and open and made to change pace through the day. At Heathrow Terminal 4 that flexibility is the point, because the café has to serve several different clocks at once. One person wants a coffee, another a sandwich, another has time for a proper plate. The grab-and-go side keeps the queue moving while the kitchen gives it far more range than a kiosk. The best hour to arrive is the one where the choice between a quick snack and a sit-down meal is still open, on either side of a flight.

Order the OXBO Burger

If one order explains the place, it is the OXBO Burger with brown ale rarebit: more substantial than a sandwich, less formal than a restaurant meal, and better suited to a travel day than a scatter of snacks. The Planet Burger is the plant-based equivalent. For something lighter, the Caesar salad or the OXBowl stays on the café side of the counter, with flatbreads and signature sandwiches in between. Comfort plates such as crispy chicken schnitzel, beer battered cod and butter chicken curry are there when the wait runs longer. Coffee and a snack will do for a short hold, but the burger is the first proper plate to ask for.
