The coffee is roasted locally and poured here, which is the shortest description of what Naysayer does. The family-run company buys green coffee from ten countries and roasts it at a production facility by the Napa County Airport, then sells the results across the counter: espresso, cold brew, matcha lattes and whole beans by the bag. The café is the public face of a roaster that spent years working wholesale and out of two espresso carts before it had a room of its own.

From carts and markets to a roastery café

The first permanent shop opened in 2022 inside the Food City complex in south Napa, a revitalized industrial block rather than a tasting-room address. That history matters to how the place feels: the following came first, built at farmers' markets and through wholesale accounts, and the café was the answer to it. The company still keeps stalls at the St. Helena and Napa farmers' markets, and it has since added a second Napa café, so the same beans turn up in more than one part of town.

How to use it in a Napa day

Use Naysayer as the coffee stop in a day that is otherwise about wine. An espresso works standing; cold brew suits a walk; a matcha latte is the move for anyone who has had enough coffee for one morning. Take a bag of whole beans if the roasting is the reason you came, since that is the part of the business the café exists to show. The Food City setting is worth the small detour on its own, because it puts you in the working side of Napa rather than the visitor corridor.
