Sump Coffee and a rotating syrup list

The espresso programme runs on Sump Coffee, and the formats are the standards done properly: cortado, cappuccino, flat white, latte, Americano, drip and cold brew. That structure covers a quick espresso, a daily brewed coffee, or something cold on the way through downtown.

House-made seasonal syrups are what separate the drinks list from the hotel-lobby default. Past features include a Pistachio Date Latte, a Black Sesame Latte and an Earl Grey Matcha, all built on the same rotating syrups. Food follows the bakery-cafe model: freshly baked HiFi cookies, which are gluten-free, and homemade pastries on the sweet side. For something more substantial, the grab-and-go case carries salads, wraps, sandwiches, and Urban Juicer energy bites and juices.

A 1930 drug store counter, still a counter

The name is literal. This street-level space was the drug store counter of the original Noel Place hotel, which opened in 1930, and the coffee shop that took it over when the building reopened as Noelle in December 2017 kept the idea intact. Open seating and natural light make it work for downtown professionals as easily as for hotel guests moving through.

Music is part of the identity: a custom vinyl collection plays on a system built by Hazelwood Laboratories, a local audio specialist. Inside the hotel, the cafe connects to a wider dining group that includes the Trade Room, Makeready Libations & Liberation and Rare Bird, which gives the counter more context than a standard lobby stop.

A syrup latte and a HiFi cookie

A strong first order is one of the Sump Coffee espresso drinks. A cortado keeps the milk compact, a cappuccino or flat white adds texture, and a latte is the natural base for the house-made seasonal syrups. If one of the features is on, the Pistachio Date Latte, Black Sesame Latte or Earl Grey Matcha shows the creative end of the list.

Pair it with a HiFi cookie or a homemade pastry. For a faster breakfast or a lunch-style order, the Urban Juicer energy bites and juices or the grab-and-go salads, wraps and sandwiches do the job. That range is the point of the place: a quick Sump stop, a pastry-and-latte break, or a practical downtown meal inside one of Nashville's older hotel rooms.
